Transport Options

The Nedbank Tour de Tuli starts at the Pont Drift Border post (between South Africa and Botswana) on the 01 August and ends at the Mapungubwe National Park (South Africa) on the 06 August. Transport can be booked on your registration profile.

Should you choose to self-drive, we have arranged for community drivers to move your car from the Pont Drift border post to the end of the Tour at Mapungubwe National Park.

Cost: R600.00 per vehicle

Pont Drift border is approximately 550 km from Johannesburg; an easy +/- 6 hour drive.

Please ensure you arrive at the border no later than 14h00.

  • Once you arrive at the Pont Drift Border, a Community Driver Representative will collect your keys from you and allocate a driver to take your vehicle from the border to Mapungubwe National Park (the last night’s camp site), which is located 36 kms away.
  • You will then need to clear customs and ride approximately 2.8 km from the Pont Drift Border to the Limpopo Valley Airfield (first night’ camp site).
  • Your luggage will be loaded onto luggage trucks that will transported to the first nights camp. Please note that you may arrive at camp before your luggage. The luggage will be placed on tarpaulins in between the tent village and the main marquee.
  • Please do not ride to the camp on your own. The Tour/Support Leaders will be at the Pont Drift border and will lead groups of riders from the border post into camp.
  • The self-drive option needs to be pre-booked and paid for in advance and is subject to availability at the time of reservation. Bookings can be made online through your registration profile.

Directions from Johannesburg:

  • Take the N1 to Polokwane
  • Go through Polokwane and follow the R521 to Mogwadi (Dendron)
  • Turn right onto the N1 alternative route on Vermikuliet Road and then left onto the R521 to Dendron
  • Continue on the R521 through Dendron and follow the signs to Alldays
  • Once you get to Alldays, turn right still following the R521 (YOU MUST REFUEL IN ALLDAYS)

Please note: Any person takes this option entirely at their own risk. Whilst the service will be monitored and overseen by a Nedbank Tour de Tuli volunteer, we cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to your vehicle and/or personal belongings. Please ensure that you have the necessary insurance cover for other individuals to drive your vehicle. Please do not take this option if you have low profile tyres.
